Steering the ship – written on April 29th, 2024. Manzini, Eswatini
(I don’t have much pictures for this blog but it is worth the read and has a wonderful link at the end for worship)
In the grocery store I was getting water for the team and filled it up with 10 jugs. It got so much heavier and was harder to steer and push the cart. It took serious effort to maneuver it through the isles and diligent care to not bump into everything.
The Lord spoke to me and said this is what it’s like when you’re spiritually leading people. It gets heavier the more you are guiding and shepherding. It takes more diligent care to watch over and love people as you lead larger groups. You need strength and the hand of God to help lead them.
The ability to steer your flock well comes from your place of intimacy with God, intercession, and speaking truth. Do you spend time with Jesus as a priority? Are you walking closely with the Good Shepherd and becoming like Him? How much do you pray for them? Are you moving things in the spiritual realm with your intercessions? Are you speaking truth in love to guide your flock to Jesus?
John 10:27 My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.
- I want to be so close to Jesus, to know Him so intimately and personally that when I show myself and speak to others they can see Jesus shining. They can hear Jesus speaking. I want to be so close to the Good Shepherd that I learn from Him and become like Him. That I would act and speak like Him. So when I lead like Jesus, people can trust me because they are following someone so close to Jesus its like following Him.
- I see Him making me a leader with spiritual direction more and more, He is helping to communicate clearly and effectively while loving and edifying my team. I see the team trusting me and my calls because I am so close with Jesus and choosing what Jesus desires and says. It is beautiful and my heart is to encourage the groups and lead them in truth so that we would all become more like Jesus.
Mark 11:23 “Truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them.
- I am desiring so strongly to grow in faith this season and truly believe the things I say and pray are met by faith in God’s will. That unity and peace will break forth, that the gospel with bear fruit from this team. That the devil has no place or hold on us. I believe it when I pray it, I believe it when I say it.
- I have seen the Lord bearing fruit in this area and calls to prayer and intercession have been growing so much!
Lord teach me more about being a spiritual leader so I may guide your people well!
One example of intercession growing is for one night I lead team time with something we call House of Prayer – a place of intercession, worship and prayers that the Holy Spirit moves in, glorifies Jesus, and edifies the team with faith and unity. I have been leading the worship section and giving the team room to grow in intercessory prayer. I am so encouraged by their faith and the power of God’s Spirit. Pray for me to stay close to Jesus and continue becoming like Him so that I may live like Jesus and share Him with my squad and the world!

I too am working on developing that closer intimacy with God and growing in faith. I’m so glad that’s your desire!
Dear God, please continue to grow Noah in intimacy with You. Let Your love shine through him and be demonstrated through the people on his team. Increase the fruit of Your spirit in his life. In Jesus’ name, Amen
