San Antonio Auguas Calientes – 03/10/24

At ministry in the Hope Garden, there are two brothers who love to play with me! One afternoon they both grabbed my hands and began tugging me in different directions. Them being small boys, despite tugging they were not able to pull me in the direction they wanted to go unless I moved my feet and walked in that direction.

There was even moments when I turned the ship to move in different way. They pulled me, but I had total control over the direction we walked in because I am larger and stronger.

This is how we are with God.

We pull, tug, and beg God for all our own desires. We don’t have patience with God or trust His plan. We pull one way and then the other to and fro. We never ask Him what He desires to do in our life.

God is still in control.

Proverbs 16:9 In their hearts humans plan their course,
but the Lord establishes their steps.

  • We beg and ask for everything we want in our hearts without asking God where to go or how to live, but He still establishes our steps. Let us follow God and His ways knowing that He is authoring our story, He is Father.

God’s ways are light and easy.

Matthew 11:28-30  “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.  Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.  For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

  • He is gentle and lowly in heart, we can trust His guidance and His plans. His burden and yoke is easy! Even when we tug in our own directions, His guidance is still light and easy on us! His ways are truly better for us. Let’s lean into the man Jesus who is Lord and stop going our own ways.

God leads us into life.

John 10:7-13  Therefore Jesus said again, “Very truly I tell you, I am the gate for the sheep.  All who have come before me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep have not listened to them.  I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved. They will come in and go out, and find pasture. The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.  The hired hand is not the shepherd and does not own the sheep. So when he sees the wolf coming, he abandons the sheep and runs away. Then the wolf attacks the flock and scatters it. The man runs away because he is a hired hand and cares nothing for the sheep.

  • Jesus is the Good Shepherd. He leads us to green pastures and still waters. He gives us life to the full. He leads us through the gate into salvation. Jesus goes on after this to explain that His sheep know His voice and follow Him. Instead of us begging and tugging for our own desire, what if we actually trusted that Jesus will lead us to green pastures and still waters and asked Him to lead us! That we obey His voice/commands and truly know Him!

The kids speak to me in spanish and I speak with them too! They let me pray over them in spanish too!

Thank you for reading! I hope the Lord spoke to you through this as He did for me!

  1. I love hearing and seeing pics of the relationships you have built with the kids! You have definitely made a huge difference in their lives, while they also have touched your heart! I appreciate the reminder and encouragement to trust God to lead us instead of going our own way.

  2. I love how you connected your experience of two kids trying to pull you in the direction they wanted with how we tend to be with God, too. Such a sweet picture!
